"Because of Goodskills I have a job I can be proud of!"
Matthew is an Army veteran who struggled to find a job when he returned from deployment. He was referred to Goodskills Career Builder to get the assistance he needed to secure employment by a contact from Orleans-Niagara BOCES, one of Goodwill’s community partners.
Matthew enrolled in the very first Goodskills cohort in Niagara County. During his Goodskills training, Matthew built on the skills he already had and earned his OSHA 10 certification. He participated in team building activities and sharpened his job interviewing skills. Equipped with advanced training, certifications and an updated resume, Matthew was prepared for employment success.
Matthew and his classmates had an opportunity to tour Fresenius Kabi, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company on Grand Island, as part of their Goodskills curriculum. He was so impressed with the company that he immediately applied for a position there, had an interview the next day, and had a job offer a week later after competing with 40 other applicants for the position. Matthew is now employed full time as an Aseptic Control Operator for vialed medications at Fresenius Kabi. He is proud to be part of Fresenius and to be part of the team that ensures the quality of the vials of medication that directly help patients’ lives. His supervisors describe him as a true professional who has a clear love of learning and a strong work ethic.
Matthew’s Goodskills Career Coach looks forward to supporting him in achieving the long-term goals he has set for himself including graduating from the University at Buffalo where he is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering while working full time. We have no doubt we will continue to hear great things about Matthew.
