Goodwill of Western New York held a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony at the Southgate Plaza in West Seneca marking the opening of its largest Retail Store and Donation Center location in Western New York to date.
The 12,000 square foot store is located in the south end of the plaza next to Market in the Square and will replace its current West Seneca store located at 3531 Seneca Street. In conjunction with the opening of the retail store, a drive-up covered donation center has been established on the west end of the building that will offer donors a quick and convenient option to donate during store hours. Space has also been allocated to operate a satellite office for its Goodskills Career Builder expected to begin operation in early 2023.
The renovated retail space, completed in partnership with Kirst Commercial Real Estate and Southgate Associates, almost triples the amount of shoppable space of its current West Seneca store giving customers a much larger selection of its gently used goods and the addition of new products as well. Goodwill hopes that the open format and more accessible location will become a destination for its current customers and attract new customers as well.
“With individuals and families looking for ways to cut their clothing and housewares budgets, the timing couldn’t be better to be opening a new store,” said Thomas Ulbrich, Goodwill of Western New York President and CEO. “By incorporating Goodwill into their shopping habits, an average family of four can save more than $1,500 annually.”
In addition to helping people save money, proceeds from all sales support Goodwill's mission of helping people train for, find, and keep jobs in Western New York. Goodwill’s Goodskills Career Builder has been recognized regionally for its 4-week training program that prepares individuals for careers in technology and advanced manufacturing careers.
The store will operate from 9am to 8pm Monday through Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
