Goodwill of Western New York will soon be filling that vacant spot on the pylon! Construction is almost complete at Goodwill's new retail store and donation center in Lockport. The 11,400 square-foot space in the Tops Plaza at 5819 S. Transit Road will replace the current store in the Lockport Plaza at 282 S. Transit Road and nearly doubles the space of the current store. The new store is being developed by DLC Management Corp. An additional 7-10 retail and donated goods processing positions will be added to the current workforce.
The new retail store will feature the concept and layout that Goodwill has used in its recent store remodels including signage and displays that represent the Goodwill brand and mission. Shopper reaction has been positive to the new design. In addition to the retail space, the new location will feature a drive up covered donation center conveniently located at the rear of the building. One of the goals of the new design is to encourage donors to come inside the retail space to find new treasures.
“We’re really excited to open this brand new store and donation center,” said Eric Schwarz, Goodwill’s Vice President of Retail & Donated Goods. “We feel we’ve created a shopping and donation experience that is welcoming to everyone and also conveys the Goodwill mission. When you donate to Goodwill and shop at our stores, you’re helping people train for, find and keep jobs in Western New York.”
The grand opening of the new Lockport location is slated for early May.
